If the day is clear, the lake is Nature's two-way mirror. You can see the fish, weeds, and other underwater life, Yet the sun and sky see their doubles. On a gray day, the lake is a rippling cloud of fog. The wildflowers grow in patches, Rainbow pillows on a bed of soft, green grass. The woods surround the lake with tall pines And low willows that gently caress the water with their branches. The lily pads float in circles, providing cover for Treasures underneath, with the frogs appointed as guards. When the sun shines, the lake becomes smooth, sparkling glass. The surrounding beach is the protective ribbon; The barrier you must cross. The deer and raccoons drink their fill from the cool, magical diamond. The birds supervise your fishing, The turtles follow the trails your canoe leaves behind, And the fish will join you for a swim. This is my peaceful sanctuary, And Mother Nature welcomes you |
